College Corner
Fit. A word heard time and again in the college search and application process. Here at St. Mary’s, it is our philosophy that we should encourage all of our students to pursue higher education and we provide advising so that each student can find the right “fit.”
Students are welcome to talk to the college counselor at any time; there are also many resources available for the student in the college counseling center.
Fortunately, there is not just one right “fit” for students and as we work with them from grades 8-12. We search for the schools that match the student’s needs and wants. Students are encouraged to meet regularly with the counselor and also to meet the various admissions officers that visit St. Mary’s. The college counselor works with the student from the initial search and testing process throughout the application and financial aid paperwork. We are here to guide and assist throughout the entire process.
Parents are an integral part of the college admissions process. Informational parent evenings are held throughout the year on various topics and parents are encouraged to contact the college counselor with any questions at any time.
Listed below are various websites that may be helpful in this college process. We encourage you to check them out, especially the Family Connection website which uses St. Mary’s data to help determine college options for our students.
Please feel free to contact Patricia Smith, Director of College Counseling, at 541-414-1255, with any questions.
