Fit. A word heard time and again in the college search and application process. Here at St. Mary’s, it is our philosophy that we should encourage all of our students to pursue higher education, which is why we provide advising so that each student can find the right “fit.”
Students are welcome to talk to the college counselor at any time; there are also many resources available for the student in the college counseling center.
Fortunately, there is not just one right “fit” for students and as we work with them from grades 6-12 we search for the schools that match the students' needs and wants.
Middle school students explore who they want to be and what they want to do when they get older. Underclassmen get involved and try many new activities. Beginning in the junior year, students are encouraged to meet regularly with the college counselor, as well as various admissions officers who visit St. Mary’s. The college counselor works with each student from the initial search through the entire application process. They are here to guide and assist throughout the entire experience.
Parents are an integral part of the college admissions process. Informational parent evenings are held throughout the year on various topics and parents are encouraged to contact the college counselor with questions at any time.
The Family Connection website uses St. Mary’s data to help determine college options for our students. Students and parents have access to the site and are encouraged to fully utilize its offerings.
Please feel free to contact Lesley Klecan, Director of College Counseling, at 541-414-1240, with any questions.
Naviance is our software for college counseling. Students and parents can access test scores, perform college searches, keep track of applications, take surveys, explore careers, and see acceptance data for St. Mary's students in the last five years. Click on the link above to access the system.
