The Spartans (Sean Milligan, Luke Fernandes, Mitchell Willhite, Corin Elmore, Benji Burt, and coach Federico Behncke) took first place in the Core Values/Gracious Professionalism category at the Intel Oregon FIRST Lego League Championship Tournament, held January 17 and 18 in Hillsboro.

Maddy Schwartz has been involved in many community service activities. She mentors at Kids Unlimited, has built houses with her church group, and organized a fundraiser to help victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.

Anna has spent many hours in service with medical missions and with the Southern Oregon Humane Society. She plans a career in medicine, and appreciates the lessons she has learned while serving the needs of animals and of underprivileged people.

St. Mary's student Alexandra Waldron will participate in the nine-day program, where students are introduced to emerging issues in public health, medical ethics, research and general practice. Site visits to top medical schools and clinical facilities are also part of the experience to develop the next generation of medical professionals.
